Hi Ross, I am trying to make plans to tackle this walk next week before Easter – Yes, I know I’m leaving it late. The only availiable campsite at Johanna is for Wednseday night, which would leave only Thursday night for me to finish the walk as come Good Friday every campsite is booked out. Just wondering if I could instead grab a patch of grass to pitch a tent in your yard – willing to pay a fee – on the Wednesday night which means I could finish the walk on the Friday as intended.

Hi Peter. The only extensive beach walking you will be doing is on Johanna Beach. About half a kilometre. The sand is soft and you will have to cross Johanna River. The river is only shallow but at times you may have to take off your boots.

I just got back from there over the weekend and saw a big black cat in this spot too!! Crazy – over 4 years later.

Hi Carol. I would not think so. You only have to book camp sites at designated areas.

Hi Bee. As far as I know it is a suggestion. It makes things easier for walkers if everyone is traveling in the same direction. With limited tourists these days I don’t think it will be a problem.
